G3-Power Line Carrier(PLC) communication is an added feature of CA168-S electric meter. It means the communication bewteen the main meter, MCU and the customer interface unit, CIU, adopts European standard G3-PLC communication. The CA168-S is a solid keypad based single phase, 60Amp (80 Amp optional) split prepayment meter , complete in a Din Rail standard housing.
The concept of split type MCU+CIU meter is as the MCU is kept away remote from consumers, normally locked away in pavement kiosk or meter cabinet, making it immune to any form of tamper from the CIU that is installed within consumers' premise where there is an electrical plug point.. All critical metering, encryption,decrytpion, load control are all happening with the MCU. The 4x3 tactile and audible keypad allows consumers to punch in the token code to topup their electricity meter or short codes to toggle up information for them to budget their usage.
The wireless feature of G3-PLC communication provides the meter with the accessibility to a head-end system server for higher profile AMR AMI features such as real-time data, remote disconnect the meter, tariff upgrade, point-to-point text message..
